Nitrate test lab Each year the District runs a nitrate test
lab for producers that do pre-sidedress nitrate testing. Nitrate
testing is an excellent and inexpensive way of determining the available
nitrogen (N) in your soil just before sidedressing and could reduce the
amount of commercial nitrogen that needs to be applied. Results for
samples delivered by 3 p.m. Monday thru Thursday are generally available the
following day by 1 p.m. Results for samples delivered on Friday will
be available on Monday. The cost of analysis is $7.25 per sample.

Windbreak / Shelterbelt Monitoring
Landowners with field windbreaks or shelterbelts can contact the District and
have a staff member come out and inspect them for needed replacements.
Pesticide Jug Recycling Pesticide jugs are collected twice a
year for recycling. Jug recycling bags are available at the District
office. The jugs can be no larger than 2.5 gallon, triple rinsed with
labels and caps removed. Approximately 2500 lbs. of material was
chipped in 2007 to be used to make non-food items.

Custom Spraying Trees The District will come out and spray for
weeds around the trees in your windbreak / shelterbelt for 50¢
per tree.

Custom Mowing We can custom mow your CRP acres for $40
mobilization fee and $40 per tractor hour. $80 minimum

Well Water Testing District staff deliver water samples
from private wells to Lansing each July for analysis. Landowners can
drop off the samples with completed information sheet at the office the day
before delivery. Samples are tested for nitrates and triazines.
